Declaration of The Hague on the Future of Refugee and Migration Policy
BUSINESS INITIATIVE

ENCOURAGING ACTIVE AND RESPONSIBLE INVOLVEMENT OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR

Although an obvious key player, the business sector has, to a large extent, been absent from the migration and refugee debate, including national dialogues on integration and social inclusion, whether in the North or the South. The initiative examines the relationship between business and migration so as to enable business to play a more constructive role in shaping humane and effective refugee and migration policy agenda, building on its own resources and experiences. Business can actively promote and ensure the inclusion into the labour force of refugees and migrants and be a catalyst for social change. At the local, national and global level, both the business enlightened self-interest and its ethical obligations in building and preserving a system of organized migration impel it to be involved.
