Declaration of The Hague on the Future of Refugee and Migration Policy

 AN EYE-OPENER ON HUMAN MOBILITY IN THE 21ST CENTURY

 The 22nd of November 2007 marked the fifth anniversary of the ‘Declaration of The Hague on the Future of Refugee and Migration Policy’ . Photographers Gerhard Van Roon and Chris Parkin intend to seize this opportunity to initiate work on a photobook thus further developing their long-dated personal collaboration with the Foundation The Hague Process on Refugees and Migration (THP). The photobook, to serve as an educational tool, will be designed and edited in cooperation with a number of organizations in the field. The book will provide an eye-opening outlook on the face of international migration and human mobility in the 21st century. It will call attention to the often understated participation and contribution of refugees and migrants to their societies of adoption, through an original and forward-looking collection of photographs and interviews. The following layers will compose the book and guide the work of the photographers:
  • Individual portraits of migrants and refugees across the globe
  • The city of The Hague as a focal point
  • Global illustration of the `Declaration’ principles
