8 March 2012: Manila Expert Consultation on Migration and Urbanisation

On 8 March THP and IDEALS (a non-profit, non-governmental organisation that caters to the legal needs of the - prospective - migrant workers) are organising a one-day Expert Consultation in Manila, Philippines, which will focus on domestic/local and Asian/regional migration. Participating businesses, city authorities and selected civil society representatives will discuss practical answers to the challenges of migration in an urban context.

This 3rd Expert Consultation on Migration and Urbanisation for Business and Cities follows the previous ones in Johannesburg and Toronto. The event is being organised in collaboration with Magsaysay Shipping Company represented by its President, Ms. Doris Magsaysay-Ho (Board Member of THP) and is co-sponsored by PSO.

4-5 June 2012: THP Global Hearing on Refugees and Migration

THP is pleased to announce its Global Hearing on Refugees and Migration which will take place 4-5 June 2012 at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the Netherlands. The Global Hearing will mark the 10th anniversary of the Declaration of The Hague on Refugees and Migration.

31 October-4 November 2012: 17th International Metropolis Conference, Beijing

For the first time, the International Metropolis Conference will be held in Asia. From 31 October to 4 November 2012, Beijing will play host to the 17th International Metropolis Conference under the theme Migration, Cultural Diversity, and Urban Development.

 

 

Organised in partnership with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, this global conference will offer insights into the most dynamic migration region in the world today as well as offering high-level commentary on some of the world’s most pressing migration issues.
